U.S. Officials Begin Crafting Iran Bombing Plan
The Bush administration has has been pushing for tough new sanctions on Iran in an attempt to force them into giving up their nuclear ambitions. However, international support has never been strong for such sanctions. The Chinese and Russians and been openly opposed to them for months and now Germany has also declared its opposition as well.
Now the Bush administration is researching its military options. If any military action is taken against Iran by the US we should expect reprisals not only against our forces in the region but against Israel as well. I have been saying for over a year that the President would not leave the Iranian question for the next President to answer.
I have not made up my mind on if I agree with a military solution or not yet. I will have to do some more research. However, the Iranian President has said over and over that he would not give up his nuclear program under any circumstances. Also, I do concede that a nuclear capable Iran is not in the world's best interest but given this administration's track record I don't believe that diplomacy was tried in good faith.
